The Timewise 798A sets new standards in rally competer performance, design, and accuracy. Extensive engineering and careful manufacturing combine to assure functional and reliable operation in the demanding environment of competitive rallying.
The 798A is constructed in a handsome metal enclosure that provides physical and electrical protection while complementing the appearance of any rally vehicle. Its low profile and sturdy mounting bracket make it easy to install.
A single rotary switch eliminates a confusing array of closely spaced pushbuttons. Extra-wide LED intensity adjustment (with separate adjustment for the driver's display), an illuminated rotary switch legend and pointer, and logically placed non-slip tactile feedback switches make the 798A easy to use whether you run in daylight or in darkness.
The main ODOMETER counts to 999.999 miles (kilometers). An audible odometer alarm can signal anywhere within this range. For incremental mileages, a resettable auxiliary odometer also counts to 999.999 miles. You select whether the "thousandths" digits in the odometers are always visible, never visible, or just when the 798A is split.
Dual odometer signal inputs, each with two correction factors, provide unsurpassed flexibility. A built-in signal conditioning and pulse rate divider allows operation from an OEM electronic speedometer. Intelli-Sense(TM) signal input design lets the 798A switch odometer inputs automatically if a transducer fails. By using 7-digit factors, you can correct mileage to within .001 miles after 500 miles (#.0002%). No other rally computer achieves such versatility, adaptability, and accuracy.
The CLOCK is easily set to any hour, minute, and second (or hundredth of a minute). You can alternate between counting modes after the clock is set, and synchronize to a time standard at any time... either manually or automatically to Timewise checkpoint clocks.
The twelve-hour CALCULATED TIME clock can be adjusted in .001 minute increments for minor corrections, or multi-hour changes to accommodate pauses for long transits and lunch breaks.
You can display time with .001 minute (or, .1 second) resolution.always, never, or just when split. The remote driver's module can display the ERROR in a different format from the main unit; and, lateness may be shown with a negative sign or as a value decreasing from 100 (i.e., 99.99, 99.98, 99.97, etc.). The remote module can also show the current CAST, your speed difference from CAST, a speedometer, or one of the odometers.
The 798A lets you adjust "live" or split values. That is, you can add or subtract distance from the odometer while driving, confirming the adjustment in an "amount of change" display. In other cases it will be easier to enter the split mode and align the odometer to an official value...the 798 A will automatically correct the internal "live" distance by the same amount. The 798AA can also automatically correct the calculated time while you make odometer adjustments. You can even choose the speed used for the time adjustment calculation.
A unique feature of the 798A enables you to retroactively modify the mileage and/or speed at the last CAST execution point. The 798A will then automatically correct the overall calculated time. No other rally computer has this capability.
Rally speeds can range from 0.0 to 399, allowing transit zones, "warp" speeds, and high "kph" CASTs. Preset values of calculated time, speed, and distance can be entered simultaneously at a reference. An optional datalog saves the 50 most recent SPLITS and CASTS for later review or downloading to a computer via RS-232.
