FAQ (frequently asked questions

Q. Are your "hi wattage bulbs" street legal?
A. Only the OEM bulbs (the ones that come with your car) and the aftermarket stock wattage bulbs are DOT approved. We now have some aftermarket xenon bulbs (German) that project the HID look and are DOT approved. All our "high wattage" bulbs carry the admonition "for off road use only" i.e. not DOT approved.

                          Q. Will they be noticeably brighter than my stock bulbs?

A. They will be brighter as the higher wattage indicates. In some instances your OEM wiring may not be adequate to carry the amperage required for the bulb to reach it's rated capacity. In this case it is recommended you install one of our HD Wiring Kits requiring 20 minutes or so to install, and utilizing heavier gauge wire which takes it's power directly from the battery. The kit requires no soldering, splicing, & comes with a clear drawings and 10 simple instructions

Q. Is there any danger of melting my "plastic" head lamp lenses?

A. Absolutely not! We have tested our bulbs up to 150 watts without a problem. This is far beyond the rating of any of our bulbs!

Q. What kind of "bulb life" can I expect from these hi-wattage bulbs?

A. Our experience has shown a 25/30% reduction in bulb life when compared to OEM bulbs. This is due to the increased heat while using the "same" glass envelope. Normal bulb life in installations (using the HD Wiring Kit) is from a year to year and a half. We offer a 90 DAY WARRANTY on all our bulbs. NOTE: On some cars with small size Fog Lamp enclosures, going to a 100W bulb from a 55W bulb may result in shortened bulb life due to excessive heat. Talk to one of our technicians.

Q. Can my alternator carry the extra load?

A. The additional 20/30% draw will not overload your present alternator

Q. How is the "quality" of your hi-wattage bulbs compare to my OEM Bulbs?
A. Actually we're comparing apples & orange here. Our bulbs are of equal quality to bulbs made anywhere in the world. We sells bulbs made in Germany, Japan, and Korea. (most of the major bulb manufacturers now have factories in Koreas due to the favorable exchange rate) To reassure our customers we offer a 90 day (from date of purchase) warranty. Warranty limited to replacement of product due to premature failure.

                            Q.   Are your "Xenon" and "Super White" bulbs the same as the Xenon HID bulbs in

the Mark VIII Lincolns, BMWs etc. ??

  A.   The HID units cost $500 $1000 per car and must be installed at the factory.. We have Halogen Bulbs utilizing Xenon gas that produce a pale blue light similar to the HID units at considerably less cost. We also have the "All Weather Gold"

                        Q.   Do you have wiring harnesses for ALL cars.?

A.  We have harnesses for 90% of the currently manufactured cars. Some of the more recent models are going thru a transition phase and have some unusual bulb arrangements and models. We do have the bulbs in stock, however we are evaluating the longevity of the change prior to developing additional harnesses. Many time we suggest using a higher wattage bulb that is only of a slightly higher wattage, than original to use until we decide to market a harness for same.
